Gregory Christiansen, MD
Gregory Christiansen, MD, received his medical degree from the University of Utah in 2000. Following an internship at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Jacksonville, Florida, he went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. He received further training in glaucoma at the esteemed Duke University Eye Center in Durham, North Carolina.
Dr. Christiansen has published a number of articles and abstracts in well- respected peer reviewed medical journals including an important article found in Ophthalmology on the mechanism of Lumigan in the treatment of glaucoma patients.
A board certified surgeon, Dr. Christiansen specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of the eye. After completing his advanced training, he spent five years practicing ophthalmology in Oregon where he performed a vast number of cataract, glaucoma, and refractive surgeries. Dr. Christiansen has successfully completed thousands of microsurgical procedures.
Dr. Christiansen specializes in cataract and glaucoma surgeries and continues to be involved with research and innovative technologies. Desiring to come home to Utah, Dr. Christiansen is now seeing patients at Clarus Vision Clinic located in Murray, Utah at the Intermountain Medical Center.
Dr. Christiansen is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Utah Ophthalmology Society, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
In his leisure time, Dr. Christiansen enjoys outdoor activities including skiing, biking, camping, and sailing with his wife and their three children.
Michael T. Chism,OD
Dr. Chism earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Brigham Young University-Hawaii, Laie, Hawaii with summa cum laude. He went on to complete his Doctorate of Optometryat Western University College of Optometry, Pomona, California as a member of Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society all four years.
Dr. Chism is a therapeutic optometrist certified in glaucoma and Corneal Refractive Therapy with Paragon CRT (orthokeratology).He is trained in the treatment and management of eye diseases, specialty contact lenses, dry eye, and the preoperative evaluation and postoperative care of patients.
Dr. Chism is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Utah Optometric Association
Dr. Chism speaks Spanish fluently and loves to travel. He spentsix months backpacking with his wife, Nichole, through South and Central America where he learned to fly fish in Patagonia. He is an avid snowboarder who loves the outdoors, scuba diving, and spending time with his wife and two children.
David Spencer, MD (Retired)
David Spencer, MD, graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1987. He was a member of the AOA honor society. During medical school, he participated in research on the pathology of intraocular lenses (used in cataract surgery), and published a review article on the subject. He stayed at the University of Utah for a combined medicine/ophthalmology internship. He then did his ophthalmology residency at the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Dr. Spencer returned to the Salt Lake area following completion of his residency and joined a local practice. Soon after, he had the opportunity to join Dr. Lewis Peterson in his ophthalmology practice in Murray. He took over the practice after Dr. Peterson’s retirement. He has been in practice in Murray for nearly twenty years. He served a term as the Cottonwood Hospital Department of Ophthalmology Chairman. Dr. Spencer specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of the eye, and is board certified. He has performed thousands microsurgical and laser procedures.
Dr. Spencer is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology
Dr. Spencer enjoys a variety of activities, including playing the viola as a member of the Salt Lake Symphony, amateur high-power rocketry, camping, backpacking and hiking. He is married with three children.
